Privacy & Information

How the Parish handles photographs, personal information, and requests for access to information.

Photography and images

Photographs and short videos are sometimes taken at our services and events for use on the Parish's website, social media pages and printed publications. If you would prefer not to appear, please tell the Churchwarden or the person taking photographs, and we will gladly respect that. Photographs of children are never published without the written consent of a parent or guardian. To ask for any image of yourself or your child to be removed, contact the Parish and it will be taken down promptly.

Requests for the removal of an image are honoured promptly and without requiring a reason. Please contact the Parish Office at Anglicanmeander2@gmail.com, or through the Contact Us page, describing the photograph concerned.

PAIA and POPIA

The Anglican Parish of Mooi River falls under the Diocese of Natal, whose PAIA manual (Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000) covers its parishes. The Parish has requested written confirmation and a copy of the manual from the Diocese, and it will be published on this page as soon as it is received.

In the meantime, any request for access to information, or any query about how the Parish handles personal information under POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013), may be directed to the Parish Office. The Rector acts as Information Officer, supported by the Churchwardens. Contact details are on our Contact Us page.

Under POPIA, every person has the right to object to the processing of their personal information and to request its correction or deletion. The Parish treats an identifiable photograph as personal information and applies these rights to all images it publishes.

This page will be updated once the Parish's photography and social media policy has been adopted by Parish Council and the Diocesan PAIA manual has been received and published here.
